PEA Party

It's a tradition on our campus for the American teachers to host a party (with an Easter theme) for the leadership team of the Pretty English Association in the Spring.
Three hours of games (Miss Thomas turned our coffee table into a pool table; students used plastic Easter eggs as balls and chopsticks for cue sticks... look for the video), talking and Easter egg coloring.

A great time was had by all, in large part because we have a four-day weekend ahead of us (the Labor Day holiday in China)

A Dozen Dozens

144 of these men and women graduated from a six-week d-class, were dunked and got to participate for the first time in special meal in this afternoon's service at their fellowship, among them one of our kids... I wish we could tell you exactly how cool that was!

Grace's Birthday

I took this picture during our Amelia Island honeymoon, which began exactly two years, ten months ago... little did we know then what adventures awaited us on that beautiful horizon...

So we celebrate being the same age again for the next fifteen days, here in a land twelve time zones removed from all that was familiar then, with the hope born a couple of thousand years ago and celebrated worldwide tomorrow (Easter Sunday)!

Extra-Curricular Duties

As any who have worn the title "teacher" will confirm, there are all sorts of duties that fall in our laps during the course of any given semester.  Pictured is a group of advisers, counselors and administrators that asked me for a two hour lesson in basic English communication this morning.  Grace and I (along with three of our teammates) were special guests at the Translation Contest last Friday evening, and attended the Cantonese Singing Competition at the invitation of one of the contestants Saturday night.

Shaking Things Up

The ground has been shaking quite a bit lately where these guys are sitting... the series of earthquakes and tremors, however, is not likely to have anywhere near the effect that these 26 soon-to-be graduates of Nicaragua Christian Academy will have on our world.  They were 3rd graders the last year I served as their director.  The student council president will be doing his university studies in Shanghai; the salutatorian will be attending my father's alma mater: Harvard!  They're ALL terrific!
